About Me

Books, stacked carelessly, fill every corner and every empty bit of desk space in my office-bedroom. There are stories among them, many being tales of dragons, wizards, or reluctant heroes, and then there are several pounds of literary wisdom in the form of biographies, autobiographies, craft books, collections of craft essays, and random selections on philosophers. Good books are not restricted to particular genres; I try to keep my mind and my bookshelf open for fresh narratives.

I’ve always loved reading, and I can’t really pinpoint when it evolved and became a love of writing. But I did write, and eventually, I realized writing was something I just needed to do. I pursued this passion beyond my teenage and childhood musings by completing a B.A. in English Literature & Writing in 2013, and then a M.F.A. in Creative and Professional Writing with concentrations in fiction and writing for the web in 2015. My thesis, a young adult fantasy novel, explores tropes of heroine adventure stories while subverting gender stereotypes.

In addition to writing creatively, I am also a freelance writer, editor, and social media specialist. Previously, I was the inaugural social media manager for Poor Yorick, before taking on the position of web editor, and then senior editor. I have also worked as a graduate assistant to the MFA Program at Western Connecticut State University, as a writing center consultant, and as a graduate instructor for the WCSU English and Writing Departments.
